This unobtrusive placard lets you know that you are about to enter the Key West, Florida home of Ernest Hemingway – as if the long line of tourists waiting to get in didn’t clue you in that Someone Important lived here. Ernest was not a nice man, but he sure knew how to build a nice house.
Maybe you’re a Hemingway fan. Or maybe you hate him because your high school English teacher made you read Old Man and the Sea and you want to feel malicious joy to see the pool his second wife spent so much of his money to build. Or perhaps you enjoy history and/or old houses. Perhaps you just want to check out the numerous 6-toed cats in permanent residence here, If any of those apply to you, I recommend a visit. Just be sure to leave your coconut outside.
