No Coconuts Allowed

no coconuts outside Ernest Hemingway house in Key West

Spotted this when we visited the Ernest Hemingway house in Key West. It’s not atypipcal in Florida beach towns for places to specify “shirt and shoes required” but most often, people do know they need to wear pants. Apparently not in Key West.

I also had to wonder what was up with the coconuts so I asked. The ticket taker explained that a lady sells coconut drinks across the street and people used to bring them in and cause all sort of problems. I can imagine, with people drinking out of coconuts the size of bowling balls. Ah, Key West!
