Not sure where I saw this one, but given that I work with a bunch of software engineers, it rang true to me. I regularly refer to having gremlins in the database when a persistent and hard-to-fix bug happens and we often joke about offering prayers and sacrifices to some fictional software deity when deploying significant changes. Software. So mystery. Much unexplained.
